This session was probably the best session we had. It allowed me to expand my self-awareness and I am now thinking about both the triggers and the ways to adapt my response mechanism. Initially, my thinking was to prioritise the building of relationships and working better with people to make things happen. Now my thinking has evolved to repositioning my approach; it is not as simple as working on relationships. I need to elevate the purpose of action I am focused on and use this more strongly while also working on the relationships.
I felt that you were very engaged in listening and in seeking to understand the outcome I was getting to and how I could get there. I felt that the suggestions you made were very helpful and reflected the reality of what could be done and how I could think about the issues. I think generally the session was very good and hit the right balance of coaching and advice / prompts.
Speaking as someone who has had senior level coaching from a variety of experienced coaches, I can honestly say this was one of the most helpful sessions of coaching I have ever had.
Michael was able to help take the discussion in some genuinely thought provoking directions, and helped me clarify my thinking in some important ways. I felt it was very skilfully handled and I have reflected since on how beautifully Michael managed the balance of offering some genuine (and needed/wanted) challenge to my thinking without overwhelming me or shepherding me to conclusions. I also felt there was a great balance of Michael offering a helpful level of professional objectivity while also leaving me feeling genuinely supported and having a strong sense of empathy and care.
